Wal-Mart Expansion

When Wal-Mart decided to expand their international retail presence they turned to Tibbett and Britten Group, the world leader in 3rd party distribution and experts in managing the supply chain.  No wonder the division was named SCM -- Supply Chain Management.

For SCM to succeed in meeting and exceeding Wal-Mart's incredibly demanding schedules and quality expectations they turned to Pacific Westeel.

It pays to plan!
From the on sent, Pacific Westeel played a major role in designing the overall layout and how the materials would flow through the distribution center.  With over a million square feet per site, it was absolutely critical to have the right material handling equipment in the correct location.

This was achieved by working diligently with key SCM personnel together with Rapistan Conveyor Systems.  Data was analyzed and the best solutions put forward.  Out of these sessions came a cohesive design that could handle current and future supply chain requirements as forecasted.

The actual installations included split case carton flow pick modules, full case pallet flow pick modules, pick-to-light systems, selective pallet racking and drive-in racking.

The details make the difference
The systems installed by Pacific Westeel included detailed differences that only a great many years of experience could give.  Among the highlights:

• uniquely designed cant-leg uprights to minimize the possibility of lift truck impact.
• end of row guarding custom built to contour conveyor and pick modules.
• distinctive split case picking design to present the maximum product facing to the operator.
• exclusively designed conveyor incline platforms to help in maintenance and protection of expensive conveyor.
